Overview:

Mystery Shoppers Ltd provides a variety of organisations with assessments by phone, face-to-face, email/website evaluation, or any combination of these. Clients include shopping centres, independent stores and chains of retailers, health clubs, restaurants, banks, insurance companies, estate agents, public transport providers, energy providers, charities and local government. 

You will manage a small sales team and will be ultimately responsible for growing our client portfolio. Our high position on search engines provides a stream of quotation requests. We receive a variety of enquiries across all industries, from small one-off projects to high volume programmes of a longer duration. A proposal needs to be prepared for each enquiry. In addition we are often involved in compiling very detailed responses to formal ITTs (Invitations to Tender) as well as designing presentations for new prospects.

As well as ensuring incoming enquiries receive a timely response, you will also manage the team to be proactive in finding new business through a variety of channels, including networking and approaching businesses cold.

The role involves some travel and overnight stays within the UK and occasionally further afield, either by taking the train from Exeter or by car (company pool cars available). On average you should expect to be away for up to three nights each month over the course of a year.

New Business – Inbound

  • Ensure enquiries are responded to by the team in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ensure a procedure is in place and followed to ensure that all leads are kept “hot”.
  • Allocate leads between team members.
  • Ensure Contact Management System & Pipelines are kept up to date.
  • Research historic clients and programmes to identify any potential problems that may occur before quoting for similar projects.
  • Ensure that proposals are designed to be tailored around the client, meeting the client’s needs and objectives.
  • Produce quotes with the team, using the company tools provided.
  • Handle client objections by working through differences and clarifying agreements. Persuade and negotiate where applicable and assist the team in doing the same.
  • Ensure order confirmations are prepared and sent out as soon as a project is sold.

Business Development Planning & Generating New Leads:

  • Be proactive in planning ideas for the team to look for new business.
  • Working with the team, identify potential new clients and the decision makers within client organisations.
  • Research and build relationships with new clients and organise the team to cold call where appropriate.
  • Ensure team is meeting potential clients by growing, maintaining and leveraging the team's network.
  • Set up meetings with client decision makers.
  • Attend industry functions such as conferences and provide feedback to Managing Director upon return.
  • Identify, plan and execute campaigns, services and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in sales. 

General:

  • Hand over programmes to an Account Director once the order confirmation has been returned.
  • Ensure briefing is thorough and all important information has been gathered prior to a handover meeting with the Account Director.
  • Ensure all new data is accurately entered and managed within our Client Management System.
  • Ensure company procedures are being followed.
  • Track and record all client activity on the CMS system and pipeline.

Hours of work : Monday - Friday,  9am - 5pm (37.5 hours per week)

Holiday entitlement : 20 days per annum plus Bank Holidays

This role is permanent and based at our Administration Centre in Holsworthy, Devon.  Please note that all employees are required to undergo DBS and ID/credit checks

All our mystery shopping programmes are designed to meet our clients’ specific requirements.   Some programmes are one-off and some are repeated on a regular basis.  Clients include shopping centres, independent stores and chains of retailers, health clubs, restaurants, banks, insurance companies, estate agents, public transport providers, energy providers, charities and local government. 

You will report to one of our Account Directors, each of whom is responsible to their clients for the overall operation and delivery of their projects as promised.  The Account Director works with clients to set up new programmes and also reviews and refreshes ongoing programmes. You will be responsible for managing those clients’ programmes on a day to day basis, which includes regular contact with your teams’ clients. 

You will manage a small team - typically comprising 2-3 Client Services Administrators - and together the team is responsible for posting assignments on our bespoke on-line system, monitoring take-up by shopper and contacting them where necessary to check that they are fully briefed and prepared for their assignments where appropriate.   The team monitors each mystery shop to ensure it is on track, carried out as specified and that the shopper submits their report on time.  Shoppers’ reports are all quality checked by members of the team, queried with the shopper if necessary and then approved and signed off before being made available to the client.

We are interested in hearing from committed, enthusiastic applicants who are prepared to fully engage in learning our processes, including familiarisation with our bespoke on line systems.  You will also bring previous experience of managing a team and an ambition to excel and make a difference fairly rapidly. 

 Key attributes:

  • Previous experience of supervising and mentoring others
  • Enjoys working in a team and coping in a fast-paced environment
  • Organised, with the ability to plan ahead but also cope with last-minute changes
  • Good working knowledge of Excel & Word and comfortable learning new IT systems
